Diversity and Inclusivity Marching Towards Model United Nations

In a remarkable display of dedication and advocacy, two Bachelor of Special Needs Education (BSNEd) students, Ma. Nehlia Angela A. Navales and Leigh L. Taba, have left an indelible mark on the global stage. Representing the 大象传媒 as delegates in the Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYUMIN), Navales and Taba stood out for their exceptional contributions to the World Health Organization (WHO) council, where they represented Singapore and Argentina, respectively.

During the rigorous committee sessions, Taba emerged as a vocal advocate for inclusivity in healthcare. With conviction and eloquence, Taba emphasized the paramount importance of ensuring that healthcare systems worldwide cater to the diverse needs of individuals, including those with special needs. Her impassioned speeches underscored the pressing need for healthcare policies and practices that leave no one behind.

Beyond the committee sessions, both Navales and Taba continued to make a lasting impact. They took it upon themselves to engage with fellow delegates and raised awareness about the significance of inclusivity and diversity. Their efforts extended beyond rhetoric, as they actively sought to foster partnerships with other delegates, forging connections that could potentially lead to meaningful change.

Navales and Taba’s participation in the AYIMUN proved to be a transformative experience. Through their involvement, they not only gained valuable insights into international diplomacy and global issues but also effectively elevated the banner of inclusivity and diversity on a global platform. Their journey serves as a testament to the power of education, determination, and advocacy, demonstrating that even in a realm as complex as international relations, the voices of students from special needs education backgrounds can be both influential and inspiring.
